CLUB RACE #1

 

JUNE 14, 2009

OK , the first race of the year is in the books, the weather was perfect, warm, no wind and sunny.

For not flying much this year because of the weather, but the guys put on one heck of a good show. Lots of close racing in every heat and some too close as Mahlon crashed on the first heat, and I hit the pole on heat number four (entertainment at it’s best).When the smoke cleared the results were:

3rd Jack Graham

4th Henry Theobald & Greg Rubin

5th Cliff Bendig & Jim Sonnenmeier

6th Bob Vermero

7th Rod Gehrlein & Chris Marchant

8th Mahlon Hirsch

Next race is Sunday, July 12th, at 10:00 AM. This is a club event so grab a cup of coffee and bring your kids, wife, girlfriend or whoever and come on out and I guarantee you a good time!

CLUB RACE #2

JULY 12, 2009

Race number two of the season is in the books and what a race it was, the weather was perfect and things are starting to get heated up as the boys are getting more races under there belts with everyone getting closer and closer to the pylon flags on every lap. Heat two, race one had two planes touch and they had to be eliminated per the rules, heat three, race two had a midair right over pylon three that was as good or better than I have seen in a long time, both racers were destroyed, and as the fire went out the results came in,

5th Jim Sonnenmeier & Chris Marchant

6th Jay Gerhlein & Bob Vermero

7th Mahlon Hirsch

Next race is Aug 9th at 10AM and they should be better than ever so don’t miss it. (Who had the midair? It was Rod and Jack) and I’m sure they will have new or repaired racers ready to go the next race. Till next time I’ll catch you at the field!

CLUB RACE #3

AUGUST 16, 2009

The third race was rained out on the 9th and was held the following week on the 16th. The weather was hot and not much wind which made a perfect day for racing, but not as perfect for the racers as right off the bat. In the first, race Jack and Jay were having a shootout right to the end but forgot to cross the finish line. Jack first and Jay following, than in round two, heat one, Chris and Henry had a midair. Chris was out and Henry repaired his racer before the next heat. In the meantime, Rory was tearing up the sky and Tony ended up in the top of the trees by the cut at pylon two and he was out; than in the next round, I hit the trees and I was out. Holy smoke, we were suppose to be getting sharper as the
year wore on but sure didn't look like it (must have been the South wind). After all the bad words, stomping and falling leaves hitting the ground here are the results:
